If Kickstarter can allow foreign game studios to co-author works with Japanese artists then there's no reason we can't do the same with anime, right? French animation studio Pollux Animation is asking for 135,000 euros for their visionary project, Asterion, which promises to put the viewer in control of how the story progresses by incorporating video games into the experience. The concept was impressive enough to get top Japanese talent on board, including Hiroshi Shimizu (Space Dandy character designer), Yasuhiro Irie (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood director) and Shichiro Kobayashi (Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro art director) with more to come--assuming the project gets funded, that is.

Super Smash Bros. breaks all it's own rules by adding Street Fighter's Ryu to the roster. For starters he gets weak, medium and strong versions of attacks determined by how long you hold the button. You also have the option to unleash powered-up versions of his signature moves by entering the directional command instead of just jamming B. They even gave him two final smashes! See him in action along with a boatload of new content in the newsdump above.

The Ghost in the Shell Realize Project pushes the boundaries of science to realize the futuristic technology of its namesake anime. Have fun fooling around in cyberspace.
