Doraemon Sends in the Clones

Doraemon, the robot cat from the future is finally catching up with the present this August with Stand by Me Doraemon, the franchise's first full CG film outing. As a childhood favorite gets a modern update for the new generation, what better time to look back on some of our favorite gadgets?

66 Plaza in Roppongi Hills has been overrun with 66 (nearly) life-sized Doraemon statues! Hug 'em, pose with 'em, rub their smooth blue heads. Just don't reach into his forth-dimensional pocket without permission, you never know what you may pull out!

The film is sponsored by Toyota so each character gets their own car model. Speaking of models, the girl is Shizuka aged 20. Nobita, if you hang in there I promise that things will get better.

The Anywhere Door outperforms the competition in gas mileage, CO2 emissions and travel time so I don't know why we're wasting brain space to develop renewable energy, much less automobiles. Somebody launch a Kickstarter! I'd throw in a buck for the future of humanity.

Event dates: July 19th-August 24th
Address: 6-10-1 Roppongi, Minato-ku Tokyo
Roppongi Hills 66 Plaza
