The Tales RPG series celebrates its birthday with the annual fan event, Tales of Festival. This year the party was held at Yokohama Arena on the May 31st weekend for two days of live script readings from voice actors and musical performances. It's tough for people outside of Tokyo to attend--and if you live outside of Japan, forget about it! That's why the Kotobukiya store in Akihabara is holding an exhibit to chronicle the fun for everyone who missed out.
It wouldn't be a fan event without limited-edition goods. Tokunaga and his devilish smile were an event-only item while the Rollo plushie was a prototype. Oh, and you can pose with the standees, but you can't take them home. Sorry ladies!
Likewise the Tales series isn't complete without a healthy heaping of home cooking! People who ordered dishes at the convention received coasters, clear files and more. At least I can live vicariously through the photos.
How did your favorite hero fare in the popularity contest? I know Lloyd is kind of a square, but he deserves better than 9th place! Nice guys finish last, it seems.
Fans from Japan and the world over stopped by to leave messages for their favorite character and the staff. The franchise only gets bigger and bigger each year. I can't wait to see what other surprises its 20th anniversary has in store!
Event dates: June 7th-June 15th
