News Roundup for January 20th, 2014

Moonlight Memorial

The new Sailor Moon TV anime was pushed back to July but that doesn't mean there aren't other ways to bask in the nostalgia. Take a peak at the track listing for the 20th anniversary memorial tribute album along with samples of each song.

Momoiro Clover Z takes the tiara with their cover of Moonlight Densetsu, but Tommy heavenly6 puts up a good fight with La Soldier. Haruka Fukuhara's take on Princess Moon is far removed from the original though exactly what you’d expect from the singer of the Penguindrum opener. And how ironic is it to have Mitsuko Horie, Sailor Galaxia's voice actress, performing Sailor Star Song?

Cry Your Heart Out with Chopper

Banpresto has produced a stop-motion short to promote their One Piece: Cry heart -Fuyujima ni Furu Sakura- line of crane game prize figures. The five minute animation recreates the tear-jerking Hiluluk's Cherry Blossoms scene using the figures themselves.

While most prize figures are PVC statues, this line has poseable joints and allows you to swap out the characters' faces. Banpresto is hoping that users will create their own shorts on mobile devices to submit to their upcoming site.

We'll be fishing for the first set (Chopper and Dr. Hiluluk) when it's released in the second week of March and the second set (battered Chopper and Dr. Kureha) the week after.

Hello Kitty Goes Gung Ho

Puzzle & Dragons, the mobile game from GungHo Online Entertainment, is teaming up with the amusement park builder simulation app Hello Kitty World to bring Kero Kero Keroppi, My Melody, Bad Badtz-Maru and other Sanrio staples to its gacha and dungeon levels. Check out the Kitty-chan themed gacha displayed above, and stay close to your smartphones and tablets for details--something you already do if you milk your stamina as hard as us.

Date May Cry

At the Basara Matsuri 2014 Banquet of Spring event held in Tokyo yesterday, series producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi teased that a new Sengoku Basara TV series is in the works. Beyond that, your guess is as good as ours! He was more intent on revealing new content for Sengoku Basara 4 that drops on January 23rd for PS3.

Say what you will about DLC--this alternate costume of Date Masamune as Dante from DMC is SSSensational. The six-sword style is cool and all, but as someone who likes to put his guns on I hope they give him Ebony and Ivory as well!
