Cure Maid Cafe Goes Goth With Rozen Maiden

We wouldn't want to get dragged into Alice Game, but would love to have tea with Shinku--assuming someone else was responsible for brewing it, that is. Cure Maid Cafe in Akihabara offers up the next best thing with their Rozen Maiden limited edition tie-up menu.

We sipped on Suigintou soda that tasted like blueberry Doctor Pepper and a Shinku spritzer made with carbonated rose water and raspberries. Both drinks were punchy and chilly, true to their namesake dolls. The black wing garnish and garter provided a macabre touch of class.

The “bite my rose” plate came with a side salad, rich meat pie in a flaky crust, and a rose folded out of prosciutto. Shinku would have preferred tea and sweets, but we wanted to devour something with more substance to keep up our strength--you never know when you may be contracted to become a medium and pony up your life force!

Goth loli fashion select shop Innocent World had outfits on display that wouldn't look out of place on any of the Maidens, while the walls of the cafe were decorated by design sketches from the anime. If you want to immerse yourself in the kind of baroque atmosphere that inspired master doll maker Rozen at his workbench, then do drop by.

The event runs through September 8th.
