Review: Cu-pouche - Puella Magi Madoka Magica The Movie: Mami Tomoe by Kotobukiya

I can't look bad in front of my future kohai!

---Translated from our Japanese blog---

Hey there. Shizu-Mecha here. Two years after its TV broadcast the Puella Magi Madoka Magica series is still going strong! Have you all gone to see The Rebellion Story yet? If not, don't worry--no spoilers here! Today we are looking at the Cu-poche Mami Tomoe from Puella Magi Madoka Magica The Movie.

Cu-poche - Puella Magi Madoka Magica The Movie: Mami Tomoe [Kotobukiya]

Mami retains her mature demeanor even when shrunk down to a deformed size. We have been waiting ages to add this one to our collections! They captured the magic of designer Ume Aoki's signature sketchy eyes perfectly here. I like that although this is an SD figure it doesn't lack any of the character's key features.

After transforming, Mami's soul gem becomes this hair accessory. She also comes with her trademark feathered hat, which may be removed thanks to an internal magnet. Note that her drill-curl twin tails are partially posable!

Sorry about this!

Also included are her trusty muskets and optional hand parts with which to hold them. Pose her gallantly blowing away witches with one or two rifles!

Cu-poche bases also utilize magnets to allow exaggerated poses without a stand. Of course an arm part is included to allow for even wilder poses like these jumping shots.

It's the first time I've been this happy while fighting.

She actually comes with four rifles in total. Place them on the stand next her to recreate her endless musket attack!

It wouldn't be a complete Mami without her adorable arch-rival Charlotte the Candy Witch. Check her back for an illustration of the frightful second form.

We have no choice but to die! Both me and you!

Madoka has already been released, Mami hits shelves this month and Sayaka follow in January 2014. As you can see here the kawaii factor doubles with each figure on display! That's a lot of guns and swords too!

Sayaka took over this part of the review! She looks so happy when she is together with Madoka. Just watch out for Kyubey and Charlotte. Who invited them to this tea party?!

Unlike most deformed figures these Cu-Poche gals can be posed in countless ways, allowing you to recreate your favorite scenes from the show. They look great in dioramas or posed with props too!
